Major Findings for Europe
Similar to the United States, the number of universities was found to greatly outnumber the number of companies and research institutions. No government labs or policy centers were found to be looking at synthetic biology in Europe (Figure 3).
14 countries were found to contain at least one company, research institution, or university conducting research in synthetic biology (Figure 4).
France, Germany, and the United Kingdom were found to have the most entries (Figure 4).
